let's continue our team coverage now with a closer look at the conditions outside. 10 on your side's rico bush is live on the peninsula. rico, how's it looking out there? aaa tidewater virginia reminds motorists to take extra precautions when driving in any volatile weather. prepare your car in advance. before the rain hits, replace windshield wipers that streak or don't clear glass in a single swipe; make sure headlights, taillights, brake lights and turn signals are properly functioning so other

during downpours. buckle up. make sure you and all your passengers are wearing seatbelts including children in proper child safety seats. don't drive distracted. adjust mirrors, seats and other settings before your start the vehicle. also don't' be distracted by mobile devices, music, eating or other passengers. turn around if road is covered with water. whether driving or time. plan to drive at a slower pace than normal when the roads are wet. being in a rush puts you at a higher risk for being in a collision. recognize a crisis. when visibility is so limited drivers cannot see the edges of the road or other vehicles at a safe should consider pulling off the road and waiting for the rain to ease up.

aaa tidewater virginia right now. japanese authorities are reporting a massive volcano eruption. they say mount sakurajima has exploded, sending lava down the volcano's slope. take a look at these still pictures from a japanese television report. this is happening in the very southern end of japan. so far, no reports of injuries. the volcano is very close to the city of kagoshima, which has a population of about 600-thousand people. happening today, a military court hearing is scheduled for norfolk sailor already sentenced in a civilian court. austin greening is on the docket for an article 32 hearing, which is very similar to a preliminary hearing. in march of 20-13 investigators say he shot and killed 22-year-old kristopher klubert. greening ended up serving six months in prison for manslaughter. according to testimony in court, the two were drinking beer and

guns when one went off, killing klubert. greening said the death was an accident. deliberate over a gambling debt. still developing this morning, the search for a virginia beach. we first brought this to you as breaking news yesterday on fox 43. officers are still searching for 20- year-old devante williams. they say he shot his mother yesterday on kitimal drive. they are on the look-out for a 20-14 red toyota camry he may be driving. it has a virginia license plate that reads "prosper". 10 on your side also spoke with his family. they say williams mother is doing better, and his father does not know why the shooting happened. call the crime line if you have any information that could help police find williams. dramatic rescue. a man clinging to a cliff for days is rescued. how he got trapped in the first place.

mighty new this morning - a mountain rescue caught on camera. incredible video showing a recovery team saving a man stuck on the side of a cliff at mud mountain dam. that's in washington state just east of tacoma. you can see rescuers lowering one of the responders down the cliff. then he tells the stuck man not to move as he hooks cables onto him. then the two are hoisted back to safety. authorities say the

was stuck for days. he jumped a fence and tried to set up camp there, but then realized he couldn't get out. visitors in the area say they started hearing screams from the man about five days ago. paramedics took the man to the hospital where they say he's doing fine this morning. now to new information about the zika virus emergency in florida. we first told you yesterday on fox 43, govenor rick scott issued a health emergency for four counties. now he's adding a 5th county. governor scott spoke at a news conference in tampa yesterday. he says there are 12 cases of the zika virus in florida so far, all from people who became infected after traveling to other countries. florida's warm climate has year- round mosquitos, something that's very concerning considering zika is a mosquito-borne illness. :33 - :48 governor rick scott, (r) florida "the way i think about it, we have to ensure, just like a hurricane,

going to prepare for the worst and hope for the best." to prepare, governor scott asked the c-d-c for one thousand zika testing kits. he's also asking people to take extra precautions by wearing insect repellents, draining standing water, and covering doors and windows with screens. it's national wear red association wants everyone to wear red today in support of the fight against heart disease. even newborns are joining in. they will be donning red hats at bon secours depaul medical center later today in norfolk. this day is especially important for women. just listen to these statistics in a video from the american heart association. :00 - :06 "heart disease is the number one killer of women." experts say women often themselves last. today a man suspected of two crimes on the same road in virginia beach is expected in court. the side, he's innocent! police arrested this week. they say he pulled a knife on two people on two different occasions on rosemont road in the most recent case, police say ellis asked a man at a wawa gas station for a ride, and then robbed and sexually assaulted him. when 10 on your side spoke to him from jail, ellis maintained he had nothing to do with it. c1 17:45:39 - i wasn't there. i can't say it - don't pick me because i just come out of prison. we looked back into ellis's history. we found that he served more than three decades in prison in pennsylvania for a

a lot of us are looking forward to the super bowl this weekend. did you know the first game was 50 years ago. they called it the a-f-l/n-f-l world championship game? experts say its almost impossible to find a copy of the game, but a family on the outer banks says they might have one. sadly we may never see it. beth rebuck's first husband gave her two large film canisters before he died. he said it could come in handy someday. the cases are marked "super bowl 1." because of a dispute between rebuck and the n-f-l we can't show you the film. the n-f-l says it owns the copyright and doesn't need the tapes anyways. we can only show you still pictures from the first game. you can see them right now on wavy dot com. 10 on your side is proud to help document the history hampton roads.

we're learning more about the death of 13-year-old nicole lovell. during yesterday's bail hearing for 19- year-old suspect natalie keepers, prosecutors said she "wanted to be a part of something secret and special." they say she was involved in the plans to kill lovell, along with 18-year-old david eisenhaur, right from the beginning. prosecutors say the pair planned to take nicole, thinking she was going out on a date, and cut her throat. the judge denied bond for keepers. she faces

helping to hide nicole's body. eisenhaur is charged with abduction and murder. meanwhile in blacksburg, nicole lovell's family said their last goodbyes. hundreds of people her funeral yesterday. at escorted her body from the funeral home to her final resting spot. loved ones gathered last night to remember the young boy killed in a car crash this week in norfolk. 9-year-old lucas ballard inside his elementary school in moyock, north carolina. family, friends and teachers prayed, sang songs, lit candles and released balloons in his memory. his grandmother tells 10 on your side that lucas' death is hard to deal with. c27 minnie ballard-miller, victim's grandmother 01:15:29 "he was the sweetest, most lovingest child that you could ask for. he did not have a mean-spirited bone in his body anywhere." 01:19:48 "it is unfair, there's never gonna be any type of justice and we can't talk about

lucas' mother and friend were also hurt in that crash - after a pick-up truck slammed into their mini van. the truck driver and his passenger were treated at the scene for minor injuries. the crash remains under investigation. happening today, the owner of a leaning building in downtown norfolk, is scheduled to be in court. he's expected to give an update to repairs on the savoy. so far he says the roof is repaired and crews have pumped out standing water in the basement. the owner is trying to sell the building and says there are many interested buyers today, you can help victims of the water crisis in flint, michigan. the newport news sheriff's office will be accepting water donations today and tomorrow. you can drop off bottled water at the justice building across from city hall from 8:00 this moring until 4:00 this afternoon. on saturday, new beech grove baptist on tabbs lane will collect water between 9:00 a-m and 5:00 p-m. the sheriff's office says catholic charities in flint will distribute the water. we're getting some more
